Kirinyaga woman MP Jane Njeri has urged Kenyans not to be divided along ethnic lines.
Speaking at Kutus Primary School grounds in Kirinyaga County on Wednesday, Woman Rep Jane Njeri called on Kenyans to reject ethnic divisions and embrace unity. She was issuing cheques to vulnerable children and distributing water tanks to local schools.
Njeri criticized growing ethnic profiling under President William Ruto's administration, calling it harmful and unjust.
"When it comes to paying taxes, no one is exempt based on ethnicity; every Kenyan contributes regardless of who they are," she said.
She also urged the government to restore security for former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
"Attacks on Gachagua have occurred after his security detail was withdrawn. The government must ensure his protection," she said, calling on the international community to also take note and address the issue.
